The Prime Minister has called a snap General Election for the 4th of July and as this is the last week before Parliament is dissolved and we enter the campaign period, this will be my last weekly column until we get the results.
It has been my honour to serve as the MP for Mansfield for seven years and to give everything I've got for our community.
I am standing as the Conservative candidate for Mansfield and I need your help, so that we can continue to work to secure investment in our area, and to see through the outcomes of the long term improvement that I'm delivering.
We need to stop Labour from putting up your taxes, just as we've started to bring those costs down and we're seeing our economy improve.
We need to stop them from opening the door to illegal migrants, just as we've finally delivered the legislation we need to tackle it.
We need to stop them from letting the left run away with our culture and values.
More than that though, here locally, I've secured a new Community Diagnostic centre, a new sixth form centre, new University Campus, new Leisure centre in Warsop, four new school rebuilds, £72m to invest and 'level up' our town, and much more.
We've got loads that's in train, and that we need to finish! I need your support to help make that happen. I’m proud of my track record of delivery - both on these major projects and the 1000s of local people we've supported over seven years. I hope to continue to do that, to deliver these outcomes.
Nationally, we’re entering more uncertain times, and this calls for a clear plan and bold action to chart a course to a secure future - and the choice between us and Labour is clear.
Keir Starmer tried to make Jeremy Corbyn Prime Minister twice, he would subject Britain to an illegal migration amnesty, and he is too weak to stand up to Angela Rayner who will impose French-style union laws on British businesses.
God forbid, if they do get in to Government, we’ll need a strong opposition party to hold their feet to the fire. We cannot afford as a country to have this Corbynite Labour Party in Government with a big majority and no accountability.
Keir Starmer has proven he lacks the conviction, courage, or a plan needed to navigate this increasingly uncertain world. The only certainty with Labour is that ultimately they will cost you money. They always do.
I know that nationally things haven’t always been perfect, or gone smoothly. Government has faced unique and unprecedented challenges, which have often distracted from the positive work being done here in Mansfield.
Locally as your MP, we’ve made real progress, and we’ve got record levels of investment coming our way which I’ve not stopped banging on about in recent years! I hope you can support me for another term so we can deliver even more amazing things for our town.
