Securing £30m to upgrade the A614 at the Ollerton Roundabout and new rail connections into our town
From On Demand transport to the £2.50 bus fare cap, public transport across Mansfield is getting easier and cheaper. However, I recognise there's so much more we need to do to improve transport and make people's lives easier. I've worked to secure a £1.5bn Transport Fund for our region which our new regional mayor could use to join up bus routes and help fix our roads. Meanwhile at County Hall we're delivering more investment into roads, and our Levelling Up Partnership with Government means we've secured the funding to fix pinch points like the Sainsbury's Junction.

Nottinghamshire County Council are investing an additional £33m into resurfacing some of the areas busiest roads this year, with much of this work taking place in Mansfield.
Fantastic progress has been made on the A60 near West Notts College, which follows work recently completed on Southwell Road West/Berry Hill Lane. Work will also take place on the A617/ Pleasley Hill, Peafield Lane and the Rainworth Bypass - with many more roads to come!

As part of our new Levelling Up Partnership, £2 million has now been secured to improve the Sainsbury's Junction after a three-year mission to try and source funding to improve this part of the A60.
I first secured funding for this back in 2020, just days before the pandemic set in and all funds were pulled and diverted to protecting lives. Since then, I’ve been in Parliament talking to Ministers and banging on about this section of road and the significant impact it has to the daily lives of so many people across Mansfield.
The issue of congestion and traffic there comes across my desk practically every week, it isn’t just frustrating having to wait over an hour at peak times to leave a car park, it’s hampering our local economy and putting off people from visiting our town to shop.
Nottinghamshire County Council will fund part of the project to expand capacity at this junction, and the Government will fund the rest through the Levelling Up Partnership - we would never be able to invest in so many areas, so quickly, all more or less at the same time without it.

This year, a £30 million scheme of work on the A614 and Ollerton roundabout will begin.
I recognise that roads are one of the biggest priorities for residents across Nottinghamshire, it's also one of my top priorities as the County Council's leader. At County Hall, I put together a new Highways Review which has announced 50 new changes to the way that our roads and pavements are maintained, and over the coming years will ensure that local people see better outcomes for their money on road repairs.
We also continue to develop business cases for Robin Hood and Maid Marian rail lines, to finalise funding secured in November 2021. As part of the government's rail investment plan, Warsop will be connected to the network for the first time in decades, whilst local residents will get improved rail services and access to thousands of new jobs in commutable distance to places such as Toton.
