Mansfield and Warsop MP Ben Bradley has welcomed the recent announcement by Nottinghamshire County Council of a £33m improvement programme for our county’s roads.
This funding will go towards major resurfacing and large-scale patching improvements to help recover our roads from this winter's severe damage.
In Mansfield this money will help improve major routes like Peafield Lane, parts of the A60, and Pleasley Hill on the A617.
This announcement comes on top of the ongoing improvements to the A60 by West Notts College, and the recent re-surfacing work on Southwell Road.
Work will also soon begin on the A614 at the Ollerton roundabout too. This is a long-awaited £30m project to reduce congestion and improve local transport connections to the wider area which has been welcomed by Mansfield residents.
Commenting, Mansfield MP Ben Bradley said:
“It’s positive news that in the coming months these busy routes will be properly resurfaced. It’s fantastic that the County Council can continue to invest into our roads and make these improvements, despite inflation driving up the cost of these projects.
“I know that clearly there's a lot more to do, and much more investment is needed. That's why I've worked to secure a £1.5bn transport fund for our area, and if I'm successful on May 2nd in the election for the new regional Mayor, I will use that funding to invest heavily in further road resurfacing.”
