Mansfield and Warsop Member of Parliament Ben Bradley this morning visited the Brierley Park Bowls Club at Manor Park Sports Complex in Mansfield Woodhouse.
Ben Bradley, in his capacity as County Councillor for Mansfield North and alongside other Nottinghamshire County councillors, previously donated money to the Nottinghamshire County Ladies Bowls team in order to help keep the club running. The money was donated from Mr Bradley’s Divisional Fund.
During the visit, Brierley Park Bowls Club thanked Mr Bradley for his donation and took the opportunity to teach Ben more about the sport of Bowls and the positive impact it has on both those who play it and the wider community. With around 100,000 regular players per year, bowls is vital part of many people’s social lives, while helping others to remain active.
Brierley Park are currently looking to recruit extra players who are looking to give a new sport a try. The club can be contacted at 01623 558334 or at [email protected].
Commenting, Ben Bradley stated:
‘It was great to spend this morning at Manor Sports Complex visiting Brierley Park Bowls Club and meeting Simon and Jane.’
‘A number of County Councillors, including myself, helped out over the last year with some kit to help the Nottinghamshire Ladies side be able to continue to play. It was brilliant to see the new kit and hear how that money has helped to keep the club going.’
‘I am a self-confessed sports nut however I will admit my knowledge of Bowls was lacking before this morning’s visit. It was brilliant to learn more about the sport and all the positive impacts it has on it’s players, with the heavy social aspect making Bowls a great way to stay active.’
‘The club are currently looking to recruit more players and I’d encourage anyone who is interested to contact Brierley Bowls Club and give the sport a try!’
