Ben Bradley MP for Mansfield and Warsop has today encouraged constituents to get behind local businesses for the 10th Small Business Saturday on the 3rd December.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
On Small Business Saturday, customers across the U.K. go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices and in stores. Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.
Ben was quoted as saying:
‘Small businesses are at the heart of both our national and local economy, with 99.9% of businesses in the UK being small or medium. That is why supporting small businesses is so important.’
‘Locally we have been working really hard to create an environment where businesses can thrive. We saw the results of this with the recent announcement that Mansfield is the UK’s most entrepreneurial town. It was also amazing to see the number of small and medium sized businesses in the area increasing by 425!’
‘Since it first began, Small Business Saturday has helped to encourage people into buying from more local and often family-orientated businesses with billions being spent in small businesses thanks to this campaign.’
‘Now in it’s 10th year, I would encourage all of my constituents to get out this weekend and support some of our smaller local businesses. Who knows what amazing local businesses you could find this Saturday!’
