Mansfield and Warsop MP Ben Bradley has praised today’s announcement that Nottinghamshire has been awarded over £1 million to help support child victims of abuse in Nottinghamshire. The funding will be rolled out through the Children Affected by Domestic Abuse Fund which was set up in 2018 and has already supported thousands of child victims of abuse throughout the country.
The funding will be utilised by programmes providing vital support to these child victims, such as through 1:1 counselling and targeted detailed support to help victims in Nottinghamshire lead normal lives despite what they have endured. A key part of this announcement is funding will also be directed into early intervention projects to ensure children do not become victims in the first place.
The £1,024,053 for Nottinghamshire PCC forms part of the wider £17.8 million of funding released in today’s announcement to help child victims of domestic abuse and support early intervention projects in England and Wales.
Ben was quoted as saying:
‘Domestic abuse is an abhorrent crime and the fact that children are being affected by this crime makes it particularly horrific. It is vitally important therefore that we support these victims wherever we can.’
‘That is why I am delighted to hear government’s announcement of £17.8 million to help children who are victims of this abuse, with over £1 million of this funding coming to Nottinghamshire. This fund will help us locally to provide that targeted support and counselling services that victims of abuse need to help rehabilitate from their experience and go on to lead normal lives. This funding will not only be used to support victims but also to prevent abuse in the first place through supporting early intervention projects.’
‘The support this funding will enable could be lifechanging for many child victims of abuse and I would like to thank government for providing this funding. I look forward to ensuring the funding helps victims in the best way possible moving forward.’
